Bloor West Village is one of Toronto’s most popular neighbourhoods for young upwardly mobile urban couples and families. Expect to see lots of fancy baby strollers here! It is a traditional neighbourhood of 2-story brick homes, with big front porches and traditional floorplans. The mainfloor will consist of a living room, dining room and kitchen. Bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. The basement might have the ceiling height to be useful livable space, maybe not. Most homes have a shared driveway or no driveway at all. Home inspections are a must in this neighbourhood to watch for knob-and-tube wiring, 60amp fuse panels, asbestos insulation around gas-fired boilers, wood rot and drainage issues.
If you love traditional Toronto homes in a traditional setting with safe walkable streets and street-front stores to shop at, this is a neighbourhood to get to know. There is a steady flow of homes coming to market in this neighbourhood and watching for the right one to come along is the best way to get into here. Bidding wars and multiple offers are common, so expect any bargains in this area!
